Bird projects

Our bird projects got funding from the Trond Mohn Foundation, the ASTI-UiT, the Dutch Research Council and the Birds New Zealand.

EvoLight Project

We use the recent expansion of great tits into the Arctic to study how fast populations adapt to novel light environments.

As part of this project we monitor the breeding success of a population of great tits in Tromsø. You can read more about it here.

Urban evolution

We used cities as a large scale experiment to study evolution of circadian clocks.

Bird clocks and chronotypes

More specific studies about variation in bird circadian clocks and chronotypes.

Seasonal timing

We study timing of seasonal events of the bird annual cycle, such as breeding, moult and migration.

Isotope ecology

Projects using museum specimens to study the feeding ecology of New Zealand birds – both of living and extinct species.

Systematics & Taxonomy

Studies to improve and clarify the taxonomy of known bird species, as well as description of entirely new species of birds.
